PFG - Financial Planning & Management, formerly known as Sound Financial Solutions, Inc., was founded in 1996 by Linda Farinola as a “Fee Only” Financial Planning and Wealth Management services firm. Our philosophy is to provide each client with expert advice and the highest level of personalized service. We are located in Princeton, NJ and service clients locally as well as nationally. We have three investment advisors, Linda Farinola, James Colitsas, and Bryan Katz. As a Registered Investment Advisor based in the State of New Jersey, Linda, Jim, Bryan and PFG - Financial Planning & Management are required to act in the client’s best interests in all aspects of the financial relationship. The company is also bound to adhere to the Financial Planning Association’s principals of Integrity, Objectivity, Competence, Fairness, Confidentiality, Professionalism and Diligence.
We provide Financial Planning and Investment Management services to individuals, families, small businesses and related entities, trusts and estates. We also offer portfolio analysis and concierge services. The areas of focus include: identification of financial problems, cash flow and budget management, education funding, retirement planning, estate planning, charitable goals, employee benefits, insurance needs, tax planning, investment and portfolio analyses and other issues specific to the client. We also provide investment management services as a stand alone service. As part of that service we establish investment guidelines that are consistent with the needs and goals of the client.
The firm’s compensation is solely from fees paid directly by clients. No commissions in any form are accepted. Chartered Financial Analyst© (CFA©) : the globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of an investment professional.
Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP® ) : the standard of competency, education, and experience among financial planning practitioners.
Enrolled Agent (EA) : licensed by the Federal Government to represent taxpayers before the IRS or Tax Courts at all levels of examination, appearance and collection, just as a CPA or attorney.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) : The statutory title of qualified accountants in the United States who have passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination and have met additional state education and experience requirements for certification as a CPA.
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) : A Chartered Financial Consultant is a professional designation representing the completion of a comprehensive course consisting of financial education, examinations and practical experience. Chartered Financial Consultant designations are granted by the American College upon completion of seven required courses and two elective courses. Those who earn the designation are understood to be knowledgeable in financial matters and to have the ability to provide sound advice.
Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®) : Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) is a professional designation for individuals whose advice helps older clients achieve financial security. A CASL® certification is often held by financial advisors who have demonstrated a commitment to helping clients who are middle aged and older to achieve and preserve financial security through wealth management, wealth preservation and wealth transfer planning. The CASL@ designation, while still recognized by the American College of Financial Services (the CASL issuing organization), is no longer offered to new students.
Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) : The premier designation for insurance professionals.
